Design Wall Monday

This is a pattern called Twist and Twirl, from Quiltmaker M/J 2009. I have been meaning to make this for a long time. I made a test block and posted about it here, almost a year ago. This week I was looking for a quick project to keep me busy. My daughter moved out two weeks ago and while I'm happy for her, I'm feeling a little lonely. This helped me keep my mind off it.

I love that block. I had the same problem a few years ago when my daughter went to college, then married. Now my youngest is going to be a senior in High school. He went to camp for a week, we got a taste of empty nest. It will be fine but it is a time of redefining a new Normal. Love technology for keeping in touch though.

Your blocks are looking really nice. It takes a bit to get used to an empty house, but you'll get there!

Cute, cute, cute! You'll just have to expand your sewing into the room just vacated! I haven't thrown a single QM issue away since I started getting them YEARS ago. I'm always going back to them for patterns. I just finished Perennial Petals from last years Mar/Apr issue. I'm particularly fond of Caroline Reardon designs. Sandi

So pretty! My husband and I have been mostly empty nesters for the last 4 years. We love having the kids visit but we are happy to rattle around the house. We are happy that re kids are out living their lives. : )

Very nice blocks! We have an intermittent youngest offspring who comes and goes from college, but the other two are gone. Luckily, hubby and I have hobbies of our own to help fill up the time :)
